10. Andor
The spinoff of a spinoff, Andor has reportedly finished shooting and could premiere as soon as summer 2022. The series will follow Rebel fighter Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) before he meets Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
On Disney Investor Day, Lucasfilm described the series as a “tense nail-biting spy thriller.” In Rogue One, the rebellion against the Galactic Empire was just getting started, so it would be thrilling to see Cassian be among the first to help establish the alliance. And we already know Genevieve O’Reilly will be back to play Mon Mothma, who fans know was instrumental in founding the Rebel Alliance and helping lead it.
Also starring in Andor are Stellan Skarsgård, Denise Gough, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw and Kyle Soller, along with more than 200 other named cast members, according to the show’s announcement trailer. The series is also set to have 12 episodes — all shot like feature films with teams working on props, sets, creatures, wardrobe and art. So expect Andor to have a similar cinematic feel to The Mandalorian.
Rogue One was a hit with longtime Star Wars fans for showing the gritty, emotional and traumatic toll fighting the Empire took on the Rebels. The movie also moved the spotlight away from the Jedi to focus on everyday people fighting for peace in the galaxy. And with Andor happening around the same time as the first seven episodes of animated series Star Wars: Rebels, there are chances for possible cameos by Rebels favorites like members of the Ghost crew, Inquisitors and other users of the “Fulcrum” alias. There’s plenty of reason to get excited for this one.
