Spider-Man: No Way Home was a colossus of a movie that shattered records and brought moviegoers back out to the theaters in droves for the first time since the pandemic began. The promise of seeing heroes and villains converge from across the Spidey cinematic universe was too great a lure for audiences to resist. Saying Spider-Man: No Way Home is the best Marvel movie of Phase 4 is an understatement; really, it’s the capstone to more than 20 years of the wallcrawler’s adventures on the big screen.

So of course Marvel is looking to capitalize on it. It’s just been announced that a new, extended version of Spider-Man: No Way Home will be swinging into theaters this Labor Day. And who better to announce it than all three Spideys themselves?

Ah, the joy that Disney and Sony must feel at finally being able to use Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in their marketing efforts for this film. They’re really leaning into the whole Spidey meme thing, and I’m not mad about it. They’ve earned it, and it must be such a relief for Andrew Garfield to no longer have to endlessly lie to fans about his involvement in the movie.

It hasn’t yet been announced what added content will be included in “The More Fun Stuff Version” of the film. Deleted scenes? Blooper reels? Who can say? Although if Marvel re-releases this thing while marketing it as an extended edition without having any new scenes in the movie itself, I think fans will be disappointed. There must be more footage of Willem Dafoe hamming it up as the Green Goblin floating around somewhere, right?

Spider-Man: No Way Home: The More Fun Stuff Version will be coming to movie theaters in the United States and Canada on September 2, when it will win the award for longest movie title in theaters that week. More countries are expected to be announced in the coming months.
