Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer are famously touchy about spoilers. When a game of Stranger Things Monopoly accidentally gave away plot details about the fourth season, they reportedly had a “total meltdown.” They want to keep the secrets.
But at the same time, they’re fine releasing pictures like this. Netflix has just dropped new images from the back half of season 4; the first seven episodes dropped a couple weeks back and the final two are on the way. That seventh episode ended with a good number of cliffhangers, and these new pics resolve at least one of them.
Okay, enough dawdling; let’s get to the pics, but beware: there are SPOILERS ahead.
Nancy survives her encounter with Vecna, Stranger Things confirms
Let’s start with the offending pic, which shows the gang — including Nancy, Dustin, Steve, Eddie, Robin, Erica and Lucas — planning out their next move. With the police on their tail and a supernatural murderer killing kids from beyond the veil of reality, they have their hands full.
The spoiler here is that Nancy is alright. Episode 7 left off with her in the clutches of the psychopathic Vecna. Given how reluctant the show is to kill characters, I never thought she was in real danger, but you could at least pretend, Netflix.
The rest of the images are fun, too. Check them out below, starting with more shots of our Hawkins players:
Meanwhile, the adults — Hopper, Joyce, Murray and now Hopper’s Russian prison guard buddy Dmitri — are still on the run behind the Iron Curtain:
Will, Mike, Jonathan and Argyle are racing to find Eleven…
…who is still in an underground lab with the sadistic Dr. Brenner:
The final two episodes of Stranger Things season 4 drop on Netflix on July 1. And if you think that 7-2 split is lopsided, keep in mind that the season finale is two-and-a-half hours long. Strange indeed.
