Sounds like the Grand Inquisitor may have survived Obi-Wan Kenobi after all

When the Grand Inquisitor met a brutal end in the second episode of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, you could hear the collective gasp of Star Wars fans all around the world. I was at Star Wars Celebration when I watched it and quite literally heard gasps of annoyance and confusion as Rupert Friend’s character met his untimely death at the hands of Moses Ingram’s Reva.

But did he really die? Would those in charge of Star Wars really just retcon the show Star Wars Rebels, which takes place after Obi-Wan Kenobi and where the Grand Inquisitor had a large role to play? These questions have been haunting me, but I think we all know the answer: there is no way that we’ve seen the last of Grand Inquisitor.

Besides the fact that this is a huge character to just kill off and ignore, there are other logical reasons as to why he would have survived a lightsaber stab to the stomach. More on that and what Rupert Friend had to say about his character’s “death” below!

Star Wars actor Rupert Friend dodges questions about the Grand Inquisitor’s untimely death

While on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Friend endured Kimmel’s relentless attempts to get him to share spoilers. However, Friend has been taught well by the Star Wars gurus and would not divulge any such info.

But if you’re a Star Wars fan, you know that there are a couple of reasons why the Grand Inquisitor can’t be dead. First off, there are bacta tanks that have the power to heal anyone who is hurt. And secondly, the Grand Inquisitor is a big part of the animated shows so it doesn’t make sense to bump him off before those take place.

Plus, as Kimmel points out, why would Friend be on his show if he didn’t still have a part to play? If his character is truly dead, then why would he need to promote the show at all? Clever, Mr. Kimmel.

While Friend did not say much, he did respond to Kimmel’s inquiries about the Grand Inquisitor’s death by saying that Reva’s lightsaber stabbed him in one of his stomachs. You see, the Grand Inquisitor is a Pau’an and they have two stomachs, so if he was just stabbed in one, he could still pull through. I mean, either way he’s not dead; I just refuse to believe it!

Four episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi have aired, leaving only two left until the season ends. Will we see Rupert Friend’s Grand Inquisitor before then? I sure hope so. He deserves more screen time!
