The third season of Westworld ended in 2020. Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) died freeing humanity from the control of an advanced computer called Rehoboam, and the remaining characters were facing a whole new world.

But on Westworld, death is rarely permanent; after all, a lot of the characters are robots whose consciousnesses can be freely switched between other bodies. So it’s not that surprising to see that Wood is back for season 4, although whether she’s still playing Dolores as we know her, we’ll have to find out.

Perhaps the new trailer HBO just dropped contains some clues. Check it out:

Will Westworld tell a story with “a happy ending?”

It’s unclear whether Westworld will be back for a fifth season after this fourth one, although this trailer seems to be setting up an endgame, especially when Dolores says, “I want a story with a happy ending.” Cryptic throwaway line or hint that season 4 is the end?

With Westworld, it’s always hard to tell. The fourth season premieres on HBO and HBO Max on June 26, which seems awfully near considering how little marketing it feels like the network has done for the show of late. Whatever happens, we’ll be covering the new season right here.

Next. “Mortality Paradox” is a great, mind-bending episode of The Orville: New Horizons. dark
