Maisie Williams is “very intrigued” by HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel
By Dan Selcke
Maisie Williams played Arya Stark for eight seasons on Game of Thrones, and there’s a part of her that will never leave Westeros. So it’ll probably be a touch strange for her to watch HBO’s upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, which is set some 200 years before the original show and features a whole new cast of characters and actors.
Of course, that’s not going to stop her from tuning in. “I am going to watch House of the Dragon,” Williams recently told LadBible. “I’m really looking forward to it. I can’t wait.”
"I’m very, very intrigued. It’ll be nice to watch a Game of Thrones show I’m not part of and just get lost in it. I’m thrilled."
I’m looking forward to hearing from a lot of the old Game of Thrones cast members once House of the Dragon comes on the air. Hey guys, if you got together and live-streamed a watch-party, I would watch it, just saying.
Maisie Williams “can’t wait” to watch House of the Dragon
House of the Dragon premieres on HBO and HBO Max on August 21, but you can see Williams right now in Pistol, a docudrama about iconic British punk band the Sex Pistols.
Williams is out promoting the show with Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who plays the band’s manager Malcolm McLaren. As it happens, he’s also a Game of Thrones alum; he played Jojen Reed. Game of Thrones employed half the actors in the UK so this sort of thing is bound to happen.
Williams, for her part, plays Jordan, a fashion icon credited with popularizing the punk aesthetic. “She’s a rare, rare woman,” Williams said. “She was very authentic. It’s very rare to find people that aren’t just projecting falseness as a cover-up for who they really are. I just feel so grateful to have met her and she’s impacted my life in many, many ways.”
Pistol is airing now on FX and FX on Hulu.
