Can Soldier Boy kill Homelander on The Boys?
By WiC Staff
The third season of The Boys is off and running, and as usual main threat is represented by Homelander, a psychopathic parody of Superman. Homelander isn’t only the strongest, fastest human being on the planet; he’s also dangerously unstable and perfectly willing to murder millions of people if he feels like it, and he’s getting worse by the day.
Clearly, he has to go down, but how do you kill a guy like that? Billy Butcher and Hughie Campbell think they have the answer: Soldier Boy, a famous Supe who has been out of commission for decades, not unlike Captain America.
While he was being tortured by the Russians all those years, Soldier Boy apparently gained the ability to deactivate another Supe’s powers, as we saw when he blasted Kimiko in the last episode. Happily, she lived and enjoying her newfound powerlessness. Now, Butcher and Hughie are hoping Soldier Boy can do the same thing to Homelander, only in his case, they want to kill the guy before he can get away.
Will Soldier Boy kill Homelander on The Boys?
The Boys is based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis, but there’s no blueprint for what’s happening here. In the comic, Soldier Boy is a cowardly Supe without much power, certainly not enough to kill Homelander, so the show is charting its own course here.
In theory, Soldier Boy should be able to kill Homelander, assuming his power affects Homelander the same way it affected Kimiko. But there’s no guarantee; Homelander could get wind of the attempt and kill everybody before they try something.
Also, Soldier Boy could go rogue. Butcher cut some kind of deal with the Supe, but he seems like a huge jerk so I wouldn’t be surprised if he went back on it. We’ll see what happens when new episodes of The Boys air on Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
