This year alone, Marvel has already aired Moon Knight on Disney+, and we’re currently in the middle of Ms. MarvelShe-Hulk is coming later this year. But eventually even that will end, and what Marvel show will we watch then?

The A.V. Club has the answer: Marvel is working on a show about Wonder Man, a character first introduced in Marvel Comics in 1964. Wonder Man’s real name is Simon Williams. In the comics, he gains superhero strength and vulnerability after being experimented on by Baron Zemo, who’s played by Daniel Brühl in the MCU. Marvel Studios hasn’t adapted the comics one-to-one when it comes to movies and TV, but at least there’s a base there.

The Wonder Man series will be overseen by Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Andrew Guest, who worked on Hawkeye as well as shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Community, will serve as head writer.

Nathan Fillion was originally going to play Wonder Man in the MCU

Now for the million-dollar question: who’s going to play Wonder Man? There’s been no formal announcement. However, Firefly star Nathan Fillion was originally going to make a cameo appearance as Wonder Man in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2. He also voiced the character in the Hulu show M.O.D.O.K., although that series wasn’t technically part of the MCU.

Does this mean that Fillion could play the character in this new show? I have no idea, although he definitely has a cult following and Kevin Feige forgets nothing, so maybe the Marvel Studios president has been waiting for a chance to make good on his original Wonder Man plans.

Ultimately, we’ll have to wait for more news. In the meantime, we can enjoy Ms. MarvelShe-HulkIronheartSecret InvasionArmor Wars
