Game of Thrones alum Alfie Allen (Theon) honored with a portrait at Sardi’s
By Dan Selcke
First, a little Broadway history: Sardi’s restaurant opened in 1927 in New York City. In exchange for free food, Russian refugee Alex Gard agreed to draw caricature portraits of various Broadway stars, which were hung up on the walls. Over the decades, the portraits mounted, to the point where there are over 1,000 today.
Sardi’s is now considered a Broadway institution; actors and producers are known to hang out there after a show, and it’s an honor to get your portrait up on the wall.
So it’s very cool that Alfie Allen, who played Theon Greyjoy for eight seasons on Game of Thrones, has now joined that group! Click through below to see his portrait up close:
Allen recently made his Broadway debut in Hangmen, a play by Martin McDonagh. He was nominated for a Best Actor away at the Tonys. He didn’t win, but apparently he did such a good job that Sardi’s thought him worthy of recognition.
Also, when’s the next time they’re gonna have a chance to get a Game of Thrones veteran up on the wall? Good for Allen!
Tormund Giantsbane has his own frisbee now
Speaking of Game of Thrones alumni who have their portraits on stuff, known disc golf enthusiast Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) recently slapped his mug on his own personalized frisbee, which you can buy here if you’re so inclined.
What other unexpected things will Game of Thrones veterans do before the week is out? Stay tuned.
