House of the Dragon, the first (and maybe only) of HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoffs, shows, premieres in just a couple of months. The first season is 10 episodes long, which used to be standard back in the day, but with the amount of special effects this show likely needed, it now counts as longer than usual.

The long production cycle is also why I’m not surprised to only now see shots from the season 1 wrap party floating around online…either that, or they couldn’t have a wrap party back when they originally wrapped earlier this year because COVID shut it down. Either way, the cast and crew looked like they were having a good time. Wouldn’t you at a Targaryen-themed party?

House of the Dragon is set some 200 years before Game of Thrones, back when the Targaryens were at the height of their power and promptly ruined everything by dividing into factions and fighting over the Iron Throne following the death of its last occupant, King Viserys I Targaryen. That’s why all the Targaryen theming.

That also extends to the entertainment. Of course a Targaryen party has fire dancers:

Meet the cast of House of the Dragon

We also got a look at some of the younger cast members together. Like Game of Thrones, there are a fair number of kids involved in this story, although because House of the Dragon takes place over a decent stretch of years, some of the young actors will be replaced by older ones as the timeline moves forward and the characters age.
