The latest tentpole film in the Jurassic franchise is here, and 65 million years ain’t enough to keep these dinosaurs off the face of the planet. Jurassic World: Dominion recently opened in theaters to the tune of $405 million at the worldwide box office during its opening weekend. It’s the culmination of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World film series, featuring returning characters and brand new dinosaurs aplenty. There’s no doubt that Jurassic World: Dominion is at the top of the food chain this summer. It’s a must-see film for any fan of the series.
However, if you aren’t quite feeling up to going to the theater or just prefer to stream new films at home, you might be wondering when you’ll get to see the latest Jurassic movie from the comfort of your couch. While there is no release date yet announced for Jurassic World: Dominion to hit streaming services, we do have some information that gives us a good idea of when to expect it.
Jurassic World 3 streaming options
As of this writing, the only way to see Jurassic World: Dominion is in movie theaters. However we live in an age where the pipeline for new movies to get to streaming services is speedier than ever. Universal Studios has a streaming deal with NBC, meaning many of its movies will end up exclusively on the Peacock streaming service. Most films with “exclusive theatrical releases” have a 45-day window before they go online, but a source told The Hollywood Reporter in late 2021 that Jurassic World: Dominion was unlikely to get such a fast turnaround. Generally speaking, the better a movie is doing at the box office, the more tempted a studio might be to prolong its exclusive run in theaters. And Jurassic World: Dominion is one of Universal’s biggest films of the year.
Unfortunately, this means that we could be waiting up to four months for Jurassic World: Dominion to hit Peacock. Those projections put it out right around October 2022, per Newsweek. Until we get an official Jurassic World 3 streaming release date, we’ll be keeping an eye out.
How long is Jurassic World 2022?
In the meantime, Jurassic World: Dominion is still widely available in movie theaters. At two hours and 27 minutes, is by far the longest film in the entire Jurassic franchise. The next closest films lengthwise are 1997’s The Lost World and 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, both of which clock in at two hours and nine minutes.
