It’s been a crazy few weeks for Game of Thrones fans. I’m sure that by this point you don’t need reminding, but we’ll tell you anyway: HBO is in the early development of a Jon Snow sequel series, with Kit Harington returning to his iconic role. Whether you think it’s a good move or not, there’s no denying that it’s a huge move by HBO.

With Harington returning, everyone is wondering what other characters could return to the franchise? Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) has hinted at a potential return.

In season 8, Brienne officially became a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Should HBO want to revisit the character, there’s definitely room to expand her story. And Christie isn’t ruling it out. “I think I would always be happy to revisit Brienne, but we will have to see,” she told Screen Rant. “We will have to see. I couldn’t be happier to be doing very, very different things. I love moving forward. I really love moving forward. And I hope to continue to work on what I do and be as good as I possibly can be. And for those around me.”

Following her time on Game of Thrones, Christie has moved on to some other huge projects. She’ll soon play the role of Lucifer in Netflix’s much-anticipated adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s seminal comic The Sandman. She looks good as the Ruler of Hell:

Gwendoline Christie is “unbelievably grateful” to have played Brienne on Game of Thrones

Brienne of Tarth appeared in 41 episodes of Game of Thrones. It’s impressive that she survived the whole show at all, given its habit of killing off beloved characters. This allowed Christie to really get to know and feel attached to her character:

"It’s so funny, isn’t it? Because I will genuinely always be so unbelievably grateful for the opportunity to play Brienne of Tarth. I love the character so much and it came about at a point in my life – it’s something that had never happened before, which is that I read a character that truly spoke to me and spoke about some of my experiences and experiences of my friends that felt like they weren’t being explored on television or in mainstream media."

Whether Christie returns to the franchise remains to be seen. Obviously nothing is set in stone, but it’s nice to know that she’s open to the idea. News of a Jon Snow show came out of nowhere, so who knows what else might pop up?
