When you think of the big sci-fi/fantasy shows of the moment — e.g. Stranger Things, The Witcher, For All Mankind — See usually isn’t near the top of the list. The post-apocalyptic drama has been running on Apple TV+ for two seasons now, and apparently the second season was the service’s most-watched returning drama series in the first two weeks of release, per Deadline. But that’s a lotta qualifiers, and we didn’t get any specific numbers. See has found fans, but isn’t really playing with the big dogs.

That’s why it’s not a huge shock to hear that the show’s upcoming third season will be its last. Apple TV+ revealed as much in a new teaser today:

“We are thrilled to share this epic final chapter of ‘See,’ which delivers all the intense drama, riveting action, and heartfelt emotion fans have come to expect, as well as what we think is a deeply satisfying conclusion to our story,” said executive producer Jonathan Tropper. “Building a world without sight was a particularly unique and continuous challenge that was met through the passionate and thoughtful collaboration of a phenomenally talented and diverse team both in front of and behind the camera. The show has been a monumental labor of love for all involved, and we are eternally grateful for the way See has been embraced by viewers around the world.”

See season 3 release date

Like Trooper said, See takes place in a world where most people can’t see, including lead character Baba Voss (Jason Momoa), a tribal leader. In season 2, he defeated his brother Edo (Dave Bautista) before bidding farewell to his family and going to live remotely in the woods. But when, and I’m gonna quote Deadline here, “a Trivantian scientist develops a new and devastating form of sighted weaponry that threatens the future of humanity,” Baba returns to protect his tribe.

Any fans of See out there? I haven’t seen it myself, just cause there’s so much other TV higher on my list, but I like that it’s an original program that’s getting the chance to close out its story properly.

See also stars Sylvia Hoeks, Hera Hilmar, Christian Camargo, Archie Madekwe, Nesta Cooper, Tom Mison, Olivia Cheng, Eden Epstein, Michael Raymond-James, David Hewlett and Trieste Kelly Dunn.

See season 3 kicks off on August 26.
