Hugh Jackman has owned the role of Wolverine for decades, but he has finally hung up his claws…probably. Disney is going to cast a new actor as the iconic mutant sooner or later, and the internet is full of fans making suggestions…and artwork.
For instance, spdrmnkyxxiii created a rendering of what it might look like if Antony Starr — who plays the psychopathic superhero Homelander on Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys — took over the role of Wolverine. Check it out here!
It’s definitely a good likeness, particularly with the cigar and the signature pointed hair. And the claws and the uniform don’t hurt.
No one knows who will play Wolverine after Hugh Jackman
There are lots of actors whose names get tossed around whenever the topic of who should play Wolverine next comes up. Per ComicBook.com, Taron Egerton, Henry Cavill and even Keanu Reeves are all in the mix.
But those guys (and Starr) are all on the taller side of things, whereas Wolverine is canonically a stout 5’3″. What he lacks in height he makes up for in ferocity.
Of course, Jackman was 6’3″ and that didn’t stop him from becoming a beloved Wolverine, so height isn’t the only factor to consider. Still, it’d be cool if Disney and Marvel went for accuracy on this next go-round. Personally, I like the idea of the 5’5″ Daniel Radcliffe playing Wolverine. Who wouldn’t wanna see Harry Potter slicing and dicing guys?
