The fourth season of Stranger Things has now wrapped on Netflix, which means we’re settling in to wait for the fifth and final.

Happily, we probably won’t have to wait as long for season 5 as we did for season 4. We had a wait a full three years between seasons 3 and 4, but that was in part because the pandemic threw a wrench into the production. Also, where there was a time jump between seasons 3 and 4, season 5 will pick up right where season 4 left off. It would behoove creators Matt and Ross Duffer to keep the momentum they’ve built going.

David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, is optimistic. “I think we’ll [shoot] next year,” he said recently. “They’re finishing writing it this year, and they need to prep and stuff, so hopefully it’ll be this year. But I think that’s the plan. So it’d probably come out mid-2024, based on our track record.”

Fans are making their own Stranger Things season 5 posters

As production hasn’t even begun yet, we don’t have an official poster for Stranger Things season 5. However, fans are picking up the slack and mocking up their own in the meantime. For instance, @almirondesign made this terrifying one of Vecna menacing Will, as if that poor kid hasn’t been through enough.

This season 5 concept art by @SodaConceptsYT is a little less personal. @GreatWhiteSCNFT turned in a poster featuring Vecna’s head floating menacingly in the sky about Hawkins, and @TheLivingParad2 has a really cool one welcoming people to what has become a very dangerous town.

There’s no official release date for Stranger Things 5 as of yet. We’ll be here, waiting.
