Things are really heating up over at Marvel. Head honcho Kevin Feige has promised an epic panel as SDCC, and with today’s latest news, I believe him.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Marvel Studios has some epic plans in store for the upcoming Disney+ series Echo, which revolves around the title character played by Alaqua Cox introduced in Hawkeye. According to THR sources, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will appear in this show and reprise their roles as Daredevil/Matt Murdoch and The Kingpin/Wilson Fisk from Daredevil.

Individually, both of these guys have returned to the MCU in some capacity, with D’Onofrio appearing alongside Alaqua Cox in Hawkeye and Charlie Cox making a quick cameo as Matt Murdoch in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That confirmed that they were officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where before the status of their Netflix show had been murky.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’onofrio are back as Daredevil and Kingpin!

Marvel has not commented on this report, but I think we all expected it to happen sometime. What makes this interesting, however, is that Kingpin “died” at the end of Hawkeye, seemingly shot in the face by Echo herself, in revenge for Kingpin killing her uncle. But we cut away and didn’t see the actual shot, so clearly something happened.

According to THREcho will have a plotline about Daredevil searching for a “former ally.” According to the podcast The Weekly Planet, this ally is Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, who also had a standalone Marvel Netflix show. If Jessica Jones is in Echo as well, then we would only have Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Iron Fist (Finn Jones), and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) left to bring into the MCU. Well, at least as far as major characters go.

We only got a minute with Cox’s Daredevil in No Way Home, so to see him back in action would be very exciting. When Daredevil first premiered on Netflix, it changed the face of Marvel material because it was dark and gritty, going somewhere no Marvel property had gone before. Hopefully his return will be just as intense!

Echo is currently filming. It follows Echo, aka Maya Lopez, as she leaves her life as a New York City gang leader to reconnect with her Native American roots. There is no premiere date as of now, but it’s expected to come out on Disney+ sometime in 2023. I’m sure we’ll learn more in the coming months between San Diego Comic-Con and Disney’s own convention D23.
