As it prepares to sell itself to someone, anyone, The CW has been cancelling shows left and right, including Batwoman and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. But there are still plenty of new shows on the way, including the network’s highly anticipated follow-up to Supernatural, which finally wrapped up in 2020 after 15 seasons on the air.

First up, the third season of Stargirl will premiere on The CW on August 31. Per SyFy Wire, we can expect Joel McHale (Starman) to go from occasional guest star to series regular this season.

Supernatural spinoff The Winchesters comes along on October 11. Although it’s produced by original series actor Jensen Ackles, this show isn’t about Sam and Dean Winchester, but rather their parents, John and Mary. These two were hunting monsters long before their sons took up the family business. What was that like? Watch and find out.

Tom Welling and Brendan Fraser team up for thriller limited series on The CW

There are also plenty of non-sci-fi/fantasy offerings. For instance, The Winchesters will lead into Professionals, an espionage thriller starring former CW frontman Tom Welling (Smallville) and Brendan Fraser, who at one point was a bit Hollywood star before he kind of disappeared for while. He never actually stopped working, but he’s been making himself more visible of late.

And here’re some more dates for you:

  • Family Law: October 2
  • Coroner season 4: October 2
  • Kung Fu season 5: October 5
  • Walker season 3: October 6
  • Walker Independence: October 6
  • All American season 2: October 10
  • All American: Homecoming: October 10
  • Penn & Teller: Fool Us: October 14
  • Criss Angel’s Magic With the Stars: October 22

So The CW isn’t gone! It’s just kind of in power-saving mode right now. But who knows what the spring 2023 lineup will look like?
