Amazon wrapped up the third season of The Boys this past Friday, and the characters got good news and bad news. (Beware SPOILERS from here on out.)

The good news: Soldier Boy is back in containment, the long-suffering Maeve is free to live a normal life, and Starlight has officially quit Vought and joined the Boys proper. The bad news: Homelander is still and large and worse than ever; also he’s collected his young Ryan and is threatening to raise him to be another superpowered sociopath. The head-popping congresswoman Victoria Neuman may become the next vice president, and Butcher learned that he has 12-18 months to live owing to his overuse of Temporary Compound V.

So the bad news seems worse than the good news. That’s ever the case on The Boys.

Karl Urban is ready to be surprised in The Boys season 4

Let’s zero in on Butcher’s terminal diagnosis. What does he do now that he knows the end is near? “His next move is to not go spending all his shekels ‘cause he might not be around so much longer,” Urban joked to SyFy Wire.

"I don’t know, I don’t have a crystal ball and I certainly wouldn’t want to anticipate the journey of where it goes from here. But I think one of the sheer joys of working on this show is every time you open a script, you’re always surprised and shocked and delighted by what you find. I think as much as an audience can’t wait to tune into see where these characters are going, we as actors feel the same way every time we receive a new script. It’s always a delight and it’s such a privilege to be a part of the show."

Amazon has officially renewed The Boys for a fourth season, and given how popular it’s been, a fifth seems likely. Hopefully we’ll get to watch new episodes before too long.
