Obi-Wan Kenobi, the latest Star Wars TV show to air on Disney+, wrapped up last month. But no time to digest that, the next one is coming. Are you ready? ARE YOU? Open wide: it’s Andor.

Andor is about Cassian Andor, who featured in the 2016 Star Wars movie Rogue One. The show will tell the story of how he became an operative for the Resistance during the reign of the Empire, and seems to be going for an espionage thriller vibe. It’s first season, which takes place over the course of a year, will have 12 episodes, way more than any other Star Wars show we’ve seen thus far, so it’s at least setting itself apart from the pack.

With that many episodes, it might be a lot to wait for them week to week. Disney is going to give us a double dose of Andor right at the top with a two-episode premiere, as it just revealed on the Star Wars Twitter account.

How Andor is setting itself apart from Disney’s other Star Wars shows

I’ll admit that when I heard about Andor, I was a little confused. He’s kind of a minor character in the grand scheme of Star Wars, so I didn’t know why Disney chose to focus on him over a better-known figure, or else make up something new entirely; The Mandalorian worked out for them, after all.

But there are reasons to be curious. There’s the high episode count, and the fact that Disney has already committed to another 12 episodes in season 2; they must have a lot of faith in this. Also, Andor makes heavy use of sets and locations rather than filming in the special effects rig known as “the Volume” favored by shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi.

We’ll discover what all the fuss is about soon enough: Andor premieres on Disney+ on August 31.
