Last week, HBO released a proper trailer for House of the Dragon, its Game of Thrones prequel show. It showed a slightly longer version at this past weekend’s San Deigo Comic-Con. There isn’t a ton of new stuff, but what’s there is worth checking out. Watch the extended trailer below:

All the new stuff in the extended House of the Dragon trailer

  • A shot of Rhaenrya Targaryen walking through the door to the Iron Throne room.
  • Viserys advising Rhaenyra (I think): “The Iron Throne is the most dangerous seat in the realm. And our line is vulnerable, too easily ended.” We also get a cool shot of Viserys and Rhaenyra looking up at the enormous skull of Balerion the Black Dread.
  • Some new shots of young Rhaenyra and Alicent praying together, back before they wanted to kill each other. Like this one:

  • A brief new overhead shot of the pathway leading up to the castle on Dragonstone.
  • We’re reminded that, at one point, “the lords of the realm bent the knee” and accepted Rhaenyra as their queen. But will they remember their vows when it comes time to choose a new successor?
  • A brief new shot of a young Aemond Targaryen as he tries to ride the great dragon Vhagar.
  • “Targaryens are closer to gods than to men.” Rhaenrya Targaryen displaying some hubris. That’s a great line; I kind of wish they’d used that more in marketing materials.
  • A close-up shot of the dagger that Alicent Hightower tries to stab Rhaenyra with in that one scene we’ve been seeing glimpses of since trailers started coming out.
