Large swaths of the world are currently experiencing brutal heat waves, including in places where the people are not used to very high temperatures, like England and parts of Canada. It’s gotten to the point where we’ve started to name heat waves like we name hurricanes. As long as climate change marches on, we can count on more disasters like this becoming an everyday part of life. Hello, out-of-control wildfires. Hey there, coastal-towns-sinking-into-the-sea. What a time to be alive!

At least the forces of the apocalypse have a sense of irony; Deadline reports that Snowpiercer, a show about a group of people trying to survive in a world that has become inhospitably cold, has shut down production on its fourth and final season early because as many as 14 people — both crew members and background actors — had to be hospitalized for heat exhaustion. This particular outdoor set was in British Columbia, which is being racked by wildfires and extreme heat.

The problem was made worse because many of the background actors had to wear heavy winter clothing — remember, they’re pretending they’re living through an apocalyptic ice age — even as temperatures soared to to mid-90s. “Out of an abundance of caution, production of Snowpiercer wrapped early yesterday and was suspended for today due to extreme heat on location,” a spokesperson for Tomorrow Studios said in a statement. “The health and well-being of the show’s cast and crew remains top priority.”

There is no release date for Snowpiercer season 4 yet

The upcoming fourth season of Snowpiercer, which stars Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly, will be the show’s last. Eventually, as our planet heats up, we’ll look at this vision of a world buried under ice and snow and think, “Ah, wouldn’t that be nice?”

There’s no release date yet, but Snowpiercer season 4 will eventually air on TNT.
