The Predator prequel movie Prey is out now on Hulu, and it’s getting rave reviews. Set 300 years before the extraterrestrial hunter first faced off against Arnold Schwarzenegger in the iconic 1987 original, Prey tells the story of Naru (Amber Midthunder), a skilled hunter of the Comanche tribe who crosses paths with the Predator. From its first ominous moments to its breathtaking final encounter, Prey stands as a worthy successor to one of science fiction’s most famous franchises.
Yet while Naru’s story might feel complete by the time the credits role, there could be more on the horizon. Prey does not have a post-credits scene…at least not in the traditional sense. Instead, its credits give viewers one last tease about the dark fate awaiting Naru and her tribe.

Prey after credits
Rather than give audiences the type of typical Marvel-style credits stinger they’re used to, Prey takes a slightly different tack. The end credits are overlaid on top of a series of stylized paintings that are meant to emulate the ledger art of the Native American tribes of the Great Plains, like the Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Comanche. The paintings recreate Naru’s story from the movie, showing how she went from an aspiring hunter to slaying the Predator with the help of her trusty dog Sarii.
Things get interesting right near the end of the stylized credit sequence. As the paintings show Naru return with the head of the Predator and get proclaimed the tribe’s new war chief, a bunch of dark clouds shot through with lightning appear overhead. The camera pulls out to reveal a trio of Predator ships appear in the sky above Naru’s village, before the screen cuts to black.
While this could just be a stylistic way to give viewers one last tweak on the proverbial nose at the end of the action-packed sci-fi horror movie, there’s a good chance it’s got a deeper meaning. The flintlock pistol that Naru used during the movie is a very clever easter egg that references 1990’s Predator 2, where Lt. Harrigan (Danny Glover) was given that very same 18th century pistol as a reward for defeating a Predator.
The inclusion of the pistol along with the cryptic end credits montage is a pretty unnerving hint at what future adventures might lay ahead for Naru. Prey stands perfectly on its own, but if Hulu does decide to make sequels, she may have to deal with even more of the alien hunters.
