We didn’t think it would ever happen, but it finally is! The Flash will end with a ninth and final season. It’s been a long time coming.

The Flash is one of the final original Arrowverse shows to call it quits. But after nine seasons, multiple epic crossovers, and a lot of cast changes, it’s time to say goodbye. As much as the show has waffled in recent years, it will be weird to see it come to an end.

After the official announcement that the series was coming to an end, star Grant Gustin took to Instagram to share an emotional farewell message to fans. I got teary-eyed seeing his reaction to the news, and it made me feel nostalgic for a series I absolutely adored when it first started.

Grant Gustin says farewell to The Flash

“It’s been an incredible nearly 10 years of playing this character and getting to be a part of this show with an amazing cast and crew, and so much love from you guys, the fans, the people who love the show,” Gustin said. “That’s the only reason we’ve been able to go as long as we have.”

After being renewed for a ninth season, The Flash became the longest-running Arrowverse series in history. Gustin is incredibly grateful to have reached this milestone and to get one more go at it. “I’m really excited to get to do this one more time, finish on our terms,” he shared. “I’m going to enjoy every minute of it, as much as I can…. I couldn’t be more honored to be associated with this character, probably for the rest of my life and career. It is seriously a true honor.”

As of now, there is no premiere date set for the final season, but given that it’s shorter than usual, we could expect it around January.
