Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson barely had four lines during his time as Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane on Game of Thrones, but he ended up being one of its most recognizable faces. Before and during the show, he was a professional strongman. Lately, he’s shed some pounds and taken part in boxing matches. He’s also on Twitch, where he recently shared his thoughts of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones with fellow streamer Mizkif.

It’s no secret that the final season of Game of Thrones got a lot of backlash on people, with a great many fans displeased with how things wrapped up. When cast members are asked about this, a lot of them give some variation on “You can’t please everybody,” and fair enough, you can’t. But even though they’re fully entitled to keep their thoughts to themselves, I can’t help but want them to be a little more specific with their opinions. Björnsson, in any case, is ready to engage.

“I get this question so often,” Björnsson told Mizkif. “I think that the show is amazing and I think that overall the last season was good. But, I understand the fans. There’s a lot of things that happened pretty fast. I wish they would have been able to make more, even another season, because there was so much being told I feel like in such a short time.”

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson wanted more Game of Thrones episodes, “because there was so much being told…in such a short time”

I dunno if I think the show needed another whole season, but I more or less agree that more time could have helped make sense of some of those big twists. But mileage may vary and this topic has already been discussed to death.

HBO will return to Westeros on August 21 with House of the Dragon. It’s a whole new chance to get it right, wrong, and everything in between.
