Prey producer hints at another “Alien vs. Predator” movie

From Adrien Brody’s Predators (2010) to the comical The Predator (2018), recent movies in the Predator franchise have been pretty forgettable for the most part. However, this year brought us the latest installment in the 35-year-old franchise, Prey, and it was an instant hit.
Prey takes place around 200 years before the original flick, which instantly makes it refreshing. We follow Naru (Amber Midthunder) of the Comanche Native American tribe as she fights to protect her tribe from the alien predator that, of course, has a vastly superior technical advantage:
Prey could rejuvenate the Predator franchise
Thanks to the success of Prey, fans are keen for more Predator action. And long-time producer John Davis is right there with them. Davis has been involved in every project from the original Predator in 1987 all the way through Prey. If anyone has an idea of what’s next, it’s him.
“Well, maybe there’s an origin origin story,” Davis told Variety. “Maybe there’s another Alien vs. Predator story in a different situation. And maybe there’s a new modern-day version. And maybe there’s something somewhere in between. I think this character can show up throughout history.”
Both Alien vs. Predator and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem are movies best forgotten about. On the surface, a crossover event sounds cool, but the execution was awful. Surely we don’t need more of them? Well, with the success of Prey and Noah Hawley’s upcoming Alien series, it may be worth another shot. I hope not, but I wouldn’t be surprised; there’s always money to be made where Alien and Predator are involved.
Although more Predator movies set within different time periods sound particularly intriguing to me. Predator Goes Medieval? Predator vs. Vikings?
Davis also commended Prey director Dan Trachtenberg for his work in bringing Predator back to the forefront of pop culture. “Dan did a terrific job,” he said. “This movie is his imagination. This movie was his idea. People just need a fresh reinterpretation of this franchise from time to time. And if they have it, it will survive 100 years.”
Prey is currently streaming on Hulu.
