Everyone’s always looking for the next big TV sensation, but no one does it quite like HBO. Their new “coming soon” video teases some of the showsit has on the way, and I’ve forgotten how much good stuff there is. I’m looking forward to the next seasons of Succession, Warrior and His Dark Materials. They’re following up on hits like The White Lotus and And Just Like That…. The White House Plumbers looks cool. Bring on more of Barry, Perry Mason, Hacks and The Righteous Gemstones. And then there’s Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler…

But they save the best for last: at around the 1:40 mark, HBO shows off footage from The Last of Us, its ambitious adaptation of the hugely successful video game series by Naughty Dog, starring Pedro Pascal as Joel, an embittered man suffering through a zombie apocalypse; and fellow Game of Thrones veteran Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont) as Ellie, a young girl he has to escort across a ruined United States in hopes of finding a cure to the disease that has wiped out the world.

I know, I know, it’s another zombie story…but The Last of Us is a very respectable zombie story, and I look forward to seeing what HBO can do with the form after they apply their trademark gleaming coat of polish.

We don’t know when The Last of Us is coming out. Until then, HBO has another tentpole genre series to entertain us:
