The Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon is only two episodes deep into its first season and it’s already a big hit for HBO…but it could be bigger. For any fence sitters still out there, HBO has now uploaded the premiere episode, “The Heirs of the Dragon,” to YouTube, where anybody can watch it for free.

You can watch it right here. (It’s age-restricted, unsurprisingly.)

We’ve seen networks do this with shows before, but usually it’s when a show isn’t doing terribly well and needs a boost; for instance, I remember that Showtime uploaded the first episode of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels to YouTube. HBO isn’t hurting for viewers on House of the Dragon, but it can’t hurt to rope in everybody possible, especially when the show has new competition in the form of stuff like The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Speaking of YouTube, HBO is also uploading clips from its new behind-the-scenes series about House of the Dragon, called The House That Dragons Built. The latest clip is about the Volume, the virtual set the show uses for some of its scenes. That confrontation on the bridge at Dragonstone? Mostly visual effects.

You can see the full episodes of this series on HBO Max.
