Lauren and Darlene’s girls’ night out turns into a march through a barren hellscape, but it’s cool because they pregamed beforehand. Meanwhile, Chrissy and Satan sign themselves up for a death match tournament. There’s wholesome bonding time and lots of blood in this week’s episode of Little Demon, “Everybody’s Dying for the Weekend.”
The main storyline with Lauren and Darlene is surprisingly strong. The opening scene sets up a premise that initially feels uninspired: the care-free person drags our their introverted friend to have fun. However, it turns out to be a great story thanks to clever choices in the writing. Lauren ends up meet-cute-ing a serial killer, and it’s hilarious. The dialogue is played straight, which is an interesting twist on an old trope.
The story throws us another twist when Darlene kills the serial killer, and from there the pair get stranded in a pocket dimension. This story was hard to predict, which earns a gold star in my book.
Danny DeVito is an excellent Satan on Little Demon
The other storyline also lands. Chrissy and Satan are hanging out trying to bond, but it turns out the devil is difficult to trust. Soon enough, the father-daughter fallen angels are the rising stars in a free-for-all death match.
This storyline is great, too. I also like the creature designs. We get a lot of good jokes from every character.
This episode is an early high point for Little Demon and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.
