Baby Thor was based on Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s grandson

Marvel is all about the fun cameos. However, there was an interesting one in Thor: Love and Thunder that many probably missed.
The character of Baby Thor was completely digital. However, he was based on a real-life infant. And that infant is the grandson of Disney CEO Bob Chapek, according to The Direct.
Rising Sun Pictures, the movie’s visual effects studio, shared how they went about creating the baby superhero, whom we saw during the montage of Thor’s earlier years. Check out what Senior VFX Producer Ian Cope had to say about the process below!
Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s grandson played a role in Thor: Love and Thunder
As I mentioned, this character was completely computer-animated but based on a real-life infant. “The advantage of this technique over standard ‘deep fake’ methods is that the performance derives from animation enhanced by a learned-library of reference material,” said Cope. “The result is a full screen photo-real Baby Thor storming in to battle.”
If you go on IMDb, you’ll see that Baby Thor’s appearance is credited to/inspired by Cameron Chapek, the son of Marvel Studios executive Brian Chapek and the grandson of Bob Chapek. Sure, it’s nepotism, but it’s cute!
