Between Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, Aquaman in Aquaman, and whoever he plays in the upcoming Fast & Furious movie, Jason Momoa is has one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. And around his face is one of the most recognizable manes of hair in Hollywood. Momoa has had long hair for I-don’t-know-when; it’s one of his signatures, alongside his wolfish grin and his ability to break out into a made-up fantasy language.

And now it’s gone. Momoa posted a video of himself shaving off his locks on his Instagram, saying he’s doing it to raise awareness about ocean pollution. “I’m here in Hawaii right now, and just seeing things in our ocean, it’s just so sad,” he said. “Please, anything you can do to eliminate single-use plastics in your lives. Help me, plastic bottles are ridiculous.”

Hopefully Momoa’s video gets some people to pay attention to this issue.

Watch Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) shave off his beard

Weirdly, Momoa wasn’t the only Game of Thrones veteran to chop off their hair in the last week. Kristofer Hivju, who played Tormund on the HBO show, also went under the chopping block, shaving off his famously bushy beard. And he hits a few other hairstyles on his way to a smooth face. Watch below:

Hivju doesn’t appear to have shorn his locks for any particular reason, just because. Either way, I hope you enjoyed these videos of famous men cutting off all their hair.
