Disney is releasing a bevy of trailers for upcoming projects at today’s D23 expo. Let’s hit some of the big ones, starting with Secret Invasion, a new Marvel show featuring the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury:
Other returning Marvel vets include Don Cheadle as James Rhodes and Martin Freeman as Everett K Ross. Newcomers include Oscar winner Olivia Coleman and Game of Thrones veteran Emilia Clarke. Marvel is swinging for the fences with this one. Just look at the photography; this looks several degrees more cinematic than recent stuff like She-Hulk.
Secret Invasion will come out on Disney+ sometime in 2023. And as long as we’re talking Marvel, we also got a teaser for a smaller project called Werewolf by Night. Take a look:
This much quirkier projects comes out on October 7.
Watch the first teaser trailer for The Mandalorian season 3
Moving onto that galaxy far, far away, we got a brief look at the third season of The Mandalorian, aka the continuing adventures of Din Djarin and Baba Yoda:
This one’s a bit weird, because The Mandalorian season 3 won’t just follow up on season 2, but also on some important plot developments that happened on The Book of Boba Fett.
It’s all part of Disney’s strategy to get you to watch as much of its content as possible. We’ll see if people were willing to do that when the new season starts airing in 2023.
Watch the teaser trailer for Percy Jackson & the Olympians
One of the most anticipated shows teased at D23 is the studio’s adaptation of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson & The Olympians book series, which asks the question, “What if Harry Potter had some Greek mythology stuff mixed in?” Watch the teaser trailer below:
All we know about this one is that it’s streaming soon.
Finally, check out the trailer for Willow, a TV follow-up to the 1988 fantasy movie:
Willow starts streaming on November 30. Disney is going to keep us hopping.
Captain America 4 gets a title
Disney announced a few other things, including:
- The next Captain America movie, which will star Anthony Mackie in the title role, is titled Captain America: New World Order.
- Harrison Ford showed off an image from Indiana Jones 5.
- WandaVision director Matt Shakman will helm the Fantastic Four movie for Marvel Studios.
It’s Disney’s world and we’re just living in it.
