Raise your hand if you would have loved to see Giancarlo Esposito in a Marvel movie or show. If you’re anything like me, your hand is raised way up because the idea of that sounds awesome. Apparently, there was a reality in which this could have very well happened.

Ever since his showstopping performance as crime lord Gus Fring on Breaking Bad, Giancarlo Esposito has become one of the most sought-out after actors in Hollywood. From his role in The Mandalorian as Moff Gideon to his evil Vought boss role in The Boys, the man has been busy.

It is no surprise that Marvel may have once considered him to take on a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It only makes sense, and while it didn’t happen, there is still plenty of time and many characters out there that he could take on.

Giancarlo Esposito could have been in Disney+’s Loki

During the Rose City Comic-Con last weekend, Esposito finally revealed which MCU character he was asked to play in Loki. According to Murphy’s Multiverse, Esposito shared that he was supposed to be a Loki variant! Now, that would have been amazing!

So why exactly didn’t it happen?

“The truth of the story is this. About four years ago I met with Louis D’Esposito who [is] in the television unit of Marvel,” the actor said. “And they had come to me to possibly play Loki on the television side. And so I did not do [that part], and there were reasons for it. I think I wasn’t the one who was chosen [would] be the honest truth. But I would have maybe liked to do it. And then I thought when I wasn’t selected for that, that it would be great if I could be in a Marvel movie, not just a television show because I like films a lot.”

We would have loved to see him do it too! I think Esposito would make an amazing Loki variant. Honestly, there is still time so if anyone from Marvel is out there reading this, we want it to happen–make it happen!

There is a chance that Giancarlo Esposito’s role went to Richard E. Grant instead, and if that means that Esposito would have only been around for a brief stint, maybe things worked out for the better. I want him to play a long-term role, not just a short-term one. Luckily, there are plenty of movies and television shows Marvel is doing so there will be opportunity out there somewhere.

Perhaps, Doctor Doom? Professor X? Anyone?!

Please make it happen, Marvel, please.
