Aemond Targaryen
There’s one more child of Alicent and Viserys we have to discuss, and that is Aemond Targaryen. We are going to hit some slight spoilers here; the trailers have already given something away about Aemond, and if HBO doesn’t mind, neither do we.
We’ll first meet Aemond Targaryen in Episode 6 of House of the Dragon, where he’s played as a kid by Leo Ashton. Unlike Aegon and Helaena, Aemond isn’t born when the time jump occurs. This makes him no more than 8 or 9 years old when he first appears in the show.
But as readers of Fire & Blood know, Aemond Targaryen grows up to be a force of nature. He’s a Targaryen cut from the same cloth as Daemon, except crueler due to a particular misfortune that befalls him in his younger years. At some point in the back half of House of the Dragon, Ewan Mitchell will take over to play Aemond as an adult.
Like Phia Saban, Mitchell is a veteran of The Last Kingdom; he played baby-monk Osferth, who was one of Uhtred of Bebbanburg’s most stalwart companions. Needless to say, Aemond One-Eye will be a very different sort of character.
Now that we’ve talked about Alicent’s children, we move on to Rhaenyra’s.
