This Sunday’s upcoming new episode of House of the Dragon is a big one, because it’s the week when new actors come in to play Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. For the first five episodes, those characters were played by Milly Alcock and Emily Carey. But after the coming 10-year time jump, they’ll be played by Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke.

It’s a big gamble, particularly after fans fell in love with Alcock and Carey’s performances. But D’Arcy and Cooke look up to the challenge. Incidentally, they were the ones who were cast first, and they’ll be with us for the rest of the series. Here’s hoping their debuts are as successful as those of their younger costars.

We got a preview of what that’ll look like when Olivia Cooke stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! and debuted a clip from Episode 6, “The Princess and the Queen.” It plays right near the start. Watch below:

Alicent Hightower and Larys Strong have dinner in House of the Dragon Episode 6

In the scene, Alicent is having dinner with Larys Strong, the son of Hand of the King Lord Lyonel Strong. Larys was the guy who gave Alicent the tip about Rhaenyra receiving the “tea” at the end of Episode 4, after her wild night out in King’s Landing. Apparently they’ve gotten closer in the intervening years. Also, Otto Hightower is still back in Oldtown, but you wonder if he might make a return given that Alicent is still talking about him.

As for the actual interview, it’s mostly fluffy conversation about Cooke going to a baseball game and getting drunk the night before her first scene. We’ll see Cooke’s performance when the new episode of House of the Dragon drops this Sunday night on HBO and HBO Max.
