The Walking Dead will air its series finale on November 20 on AMC. After over a decade of zombie drama and multiple spinoffs, it is time for the flagship series to end. As someone who has been watching since 2012, it’s going to be weird for this show not to be airing twice a year. But we don’t have to feel that sad, considering there are multiple spinoffs in the works, including one all about Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon.

In fact, that show is in production in France right now. The show was originally supposed to also feature Melissa McBride’s Carol, but McBride bowed out since production was taking place overseas.

The Daryl spinoff may have a connection to The Walking Dead: World Beyond. At the end of that show, we meet a scientist working in a French lab who talks about tests being done on what appear to be variant walkers. They’re faster and perhaps…smarter?

AMC president Dan McDermott teased that the still-untitled spinoff would “follow Daryl as he wakes up and finds himself somewhere on the European continent and tries to piece together what happened. How did he get here? How’s he going to get home?”

Daryl’s Walking Dead spinoff will be “way different” from the original series

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Reedus shared that the spinoff isn’t going to be more of the same from The Walking Dead. “We knew we wanted to make a show that went in the opposite direction, just because we didn’t want to do the same thing. So that’s what we’re doing. And it’s going to be way different,” he said. “The story’s way different. The characters are way different. There’s a different tone, there’s different light, there’s a different sound. It’s a whole different vibe.”

And for anyone worried all those changes will be hard to swallow, Reedus has this short but powerful message: “This is going to be f—ng epic.”

…We cannot wait!
