According to The Hollywood Reporter, Armor Wars will no longer be a Disney+ TV series. Instead, in an unexpected twist, Marvel Studios has decided to make the Don Cheadle-led series into a feature film.

This development will likely delay the project, although we don’t know for sure. According to THR’s sources, the studio was determined to tell the story in the best way possible. In thinking this way, Marvel Studios decided that a theatrical feature film would make more sense than a Disney+ series.

If you’re worried about a cast shake-up, never fear: Armor Wars has not lost Don Cheadle, aka Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes, aka War Machine. Yassir Lester will remain as the head writer.

Marvel’s Armor Wars isn’t a TV show anymore; it’s a movie

Marvel was hoping to start production in 2023, but with this shift in plans, things could change. We also don’t know where Armor Wars might fall in the Marvel timeline. A lot of unknowns here, folks!

The name “Armor Wars” comes from a popular storyline in the Iron Man comics in 1987 and 1988. It explores what happens when the advanced technology used in Iron Man’s suit falls into the wrong hands. The original Disney+ series was going to showcase different kinds of armor (which still might be the case for the movie).

I’m excited to see where this shift in direction will take Armor Wars. The next time we Rhodey won’t be in the film but in the MCU’s Disney+ series Secret Invasion, which also stars Ben Mendlesohn and Samuel L. Jackson. Oh, and Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman.

That one’s coming out in 2023. Exciting things ahead!

Next. Elizabeth Olsen: No, I’m not cast in House of the Dragon season 2. dark
