Was the ending to the latest episode of House of the Dragon, “Driftmark,” a copout or a bold stroke that upended the source material in a clever way?

The latest episode of House of the Dragon, “Driftmark,” may have been the best yet, but it wasn’t without its controversies. In particular, the ending — which changed the plot from George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood — had some fans giving the writers the side-eye.

And just to be clear, by “some fans,” I mean me. On the latest episode of our Take the Black aftershow, I argue about it with the other members of the crew. Watch below! (We start talking about the ending at 46:36.)

And of course we talk about the rest of the episode, as well, from Aemond’s first dragon ride to Alicent and Rhaenyra’s face-off.
