HBO has just released a slew of new images to get us all hyped up for Episode 8 of House of the Dragon. “The Lord of the Tides” will see various factions converge on King’s Landing to decide the succession of Driftmark, as well as our final large time jump of the season (possibly the series). Alicent, Rhaenyra and Daemon’s children are all grown up!

Let’s check out all the new pictures from “The Lord of the Tides.”

Another awkward family gathering in House of the Dragon Episode 8

First up, we’ve got a beautifully lit shot of Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) and his daughter Alicent (Olivia Cooke) at a dinner table. They’re dressed to the nines here, so expect a fancy banquet of some kind in Episode 8. There’s one of the twin Kingsguard knights Ser Arryk or Ser Erryk in the background, though I can’t be sure which. They’ll be making their debut this week and are played by identical twin brothers Luke and Elliot Tittensor, respectively.

Next, we catch up with some of Alicent’s children, also present at the banquet. Here’s Aegon, now played as an adult by Tom Glynn-Carney:

And Aemond, played by The Last Kingdom veteran Ewan Mitchell. Aemond is making a toast; perhaps to some very strong boys?

Another shot of Alicent, looking at someone’s back as they walk away:

It’s pretty much impossible to tell from this shot, but the hair makes me think she could be looking at Rhaenyra. It’ll be interesting to see how the two childhood friends react to seeing one another again in this episode after their showdown in the Hall of Nine during Episode 7.

The fate of the Driftwood Throne

It seems like a lot of the action in “The Lord of the Tides” will take place in King’s Landing, but that’s not the only location we’ll be visiting. Above is a shot of Rhaenys Velaryon (Eve Best) with her granddaughter Baela Targaryen, now played by Bethany Antonia. Rhaenys is sitting the Driftwood Throne here, likely hearing an argument from her brother-in-law Vaemond (Wil Johnson) about who will succeed Corlys Velaryon, who has taken a wound and may not live.

Since Episode 8 features the last big time jump of the season, that means all of the child actors from Episodes 6 and 7 will now be played by different people. Here’s a better look at Harry Collett as Prince Jacaerys Velaryon:

It’s hard to tell exactly where he is from this shot, but the trailer alludes to Daemon and Rhaenyra’s family having to take a journey to King’s Landing in Episode 8, so we’re going to guess he’s most likely on Dragonstone here.

The blacks go to court in House of the Dragon Episode 8

Our last group of photos takes us back to King’s Landing, where the greens and blacks will gather for a debate before the Iron Throne. We’ve seen the greens in the throne room in the trailer; the new photos give us a better look at the blacks:

Rhaenyra is looking pretty stunning in this shot. Next to her are Rhaena Targaryen (Phoebe Campbell) and Lucerys Velaryon (Elliot Grihault).

“The Lord of the Tides” will revolve around the succession of Driftmark. Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys is next in line for the Driftwood Throne, but it’s pretty clear from the trailer that Vaemond Velaryon will have a problem with that. Here he is at court, with Rhaenys Velaryon and Baela Targaryen in the background:

This last shot once more shows Rhaenyra, Lucerys, and Rhaena, as well as Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) and Rhaenys.
