We’re two episodes away from the end of the first season of House of the Dragon, and at this point I am extremely in. Episode 8 was fantastic, and it was just the calm before storm. Episodes 9 and 10 will officially kick off the war known as the Dance of the Dragons. Say hello to fire and blood.

It looks like this episode may take place entirely in King’s Landing as Alicent, Otto, and the rest of the greens decide what to do now that King Viserys is dead. And if you hoped they were going to happily hand it over to Rhaenyra as her father wanted, I wonder what show you’ve been watching.
But seriously, obviously it’s going to be a complete clusterf**k. We get some intriguing images in the trailer that might intrigue those who have read Fire & Blood. Who is the little girl with the Targaryen blonde hair? It might be Aegon the Elder’s bastard daughter? And it looks like Rhaenys Targaryen may be locked inside her room. In the book, she’s away from King’s Landing when the king dies, so this will be an intriguing change.
House of the Dragon Episode 9, “The Green Council,” airs next Sunday on HBO and HBO Max.
