New York Comic Con took place this past weekend, and the news was flowing freely. Oscar Isaac made waves with his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut earlier this year as Moon Knight, aka Steven Grant, aka Marc Spector, aka Jake Lockley. It’s hard to stand out in a universe as saturated as Marvel’s, yet Isaac managed with his nuanced portrayal of a superhero suffering from dissociate identity disorder.

Yet despite the show’s warm reception, Marvel has remained quiet about when we’ll see Moon Knight again. Isaac was only contracted for one season of the show, so he has no obligation to reprise the role.

But based on some of the actor’s comments at Comic Con, Moon Knight’s return sounds almost like a sure thing.

Oscar Isaac will return as Moon Knight, but season 2 is not yet confirmed

During a wide-ranging panel where Isaac talked about his experiences filming Star WarsDune, Moon Knight and more. “It’s myth. Humans have always explored really complex ideas through myth,” he said per Syfy Wire, discussing how comic book storytelling can get into more “emotional parallels” and dive deep into a more “spiritual” context.

One thing about Moon Knight that appealed to Isaac was how it explored the human psyche. “I saw an opportunity to talk about something that is very difficult to talk about,” he said.

As for whether we’ll ever see more of Moon Knight in the MCU, Isaac gave fans a bit of hope. He wouldn’t confirm whether the show was going to get a second season, but did tease that, “It’s not the last…”

"I had so much fun being Steven, I miss Steven. He’s funny, and honest, and authentically himself. I just loved how he was in the world, how he is in the world… without that filter of judgement."

Even beyond a second season of Moon Knight, there are plenty of other ways the character could appear in the MCU. Perhaps in a Midnight Sons team up with Blade and the Black Knight? Or maybe he could share a special with Gael Garcia Bernal’s Werewolf By Night, which would tie back around to Moon Knight’s first comic appearance?

Only time will tell, but with the MCU, there are no shortage of possibilities.
