Peter Capaldi talks “ridiculous” Doctor Who secrecy

Shows like Doctor Who try their best to prevent spoilers and leaks, although they haven’t always been great at it. We’ve seen plenty of leaked photos from the set of Doctor Who over the last couple of years.

While speaking with Radio Times, Peter Capaldi, who played the Twelfth Doctor, revealed that he thought all the secrecy was “ridiculous.” He didn’t quite understand why so much had to be hidden. And I can’t say I blame him because, more often than not, the villains remain the same. Will viewers be that shocked to learn that the Doctor is fighting the Daleks again?

Peter Capaldi on keeping Doctor Who secrets

“Who cares if the Cybermen will be here next week?” Capaldi said, just before talking about his upcoming role in Amazon Video’s The Devil’s Hour. Apparently, he “can really say nothing without giving everything away” about his new role. “It’s more difficult to explain than it will be to see,” he said. “But it’s fun! I get to do lots of nasty things and wreak havoc through the whole thing.”

Capaldi’s tenure on Doctor Who ran from 2013 to 2017, and he made quite an impression on Whovians. He was a funky, cool Doctor who didn’t take himself too seriously and made the role fun and silly, all by riffing on the role of the semi-grumpy old man.

Interestingly enough, in The Devil’s Hour Capaldi plays a nomad driven by an obsession to murder, and get this: he might be a time traveler! Capaldi sure does have a type when it comes to roles, right?

If you’re hoping to catch Capaldi in his new role, you can watch The Devil’s Hour on Amazon Video starting October 28!
