Henry Cavill is officially back in the DC Extended Universe, ya’ll! The Man of Steel took to Instagram to announce that he is officially returning as Superman following his cameo in Black Adam. The movie came out over the weekend and raked in $140 million worldwide.
The highly anticipated movie was hyped up by its lead star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who could not stop talking about a potential showdown between Man of Steel and Black Adam. It was not all that shocking that Henry Cavill showed up in a post-credit scene, but it is exciting nonetheless!
Cavill shared an exciting and emotional message on Instagram declaring his return to the DCEU, and I can’t pretend I wasn’t overcome with excitement. I mean, HENRY CAVILL! He’s finally back!
Expect much more of Henry Cavill’s Superman in the future
“I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch ‘Black Adam,’” Cavill said in an Instagram video. “But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman.”
According to Cavill, the image of him in the Superman suit, along with the Black Adam cameo, “are just a very small taste of things to come.” He goes on to say that fans will be rewarded for all the patience they’ve shown over the years during his absence. And that is about all we got out of him, for now. The Son of Krypton is back!
The first time we saw Cavill as Superman was back in 2013’s Man of Steel, and then again in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, 2017’s Justice League, and finally the quick post-credits cameo in Black Adam.
This is a very exciting time for DC fans worldwide, especially amidst all the chaos and confusion resulting from the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. This is a light at the end of the tunnel and I couldn’t be happier.
