A lot is going on in the world of Doctor Who, especially this last week after Jodie Whittaker’s final episode aired. I have yet to watch the episode and have been actively avoiding all spoilers, but I cannot wait to see how it all ends, and what’s in store for the next chapter.
Speaking of which, Disney has officially acquired the exclusive streaming rights for all upcoming seasons of the series outside of the United Kingdom and Ireland, where the rights will remain with the BBC. This reveal came straight from Ncuti Gatwa, who will play the next Doctor, while he was on Live with Kelly and Ryan.
Under this landmark deal, new episodes of Doctor Who will begin streaming on Disney+ in November 2023, around the time of the show’s 60th anniversary.

“I love this show, and this is the best of both worlds – with the vision and joy of the BBC and Disney+ together, we can launch the TARDIS all around the planet, reaching a new generation of fans while keeping our traditional home firmly on the BBC in the UK,” said Russell T. Davies, the former and future showrunner of the series.
Disney+ Alisa Bowen president also weigh in, saying that the new seasons will be aired in “more than 150 markets around the world.”
Gatwa will officially take over for Whittaker in late 2023. In the meantime, Tenth Doctor David Tennant will be back for a series of specials. He was my favorite Doctor, so I look forward to that!
