Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) will play the lead role in the new movie An Ideal WifeDeadline reports. The wife in question is children’s author Constance Lloyd. In addition to her books, Lloyd was the wife of famed author Oscar Wilde. The movie will trace Lloyd’s sexual awakening after she learned that her husband was gay.

The real Constance Lloyd lived in London, but eventually left with her two sons and changed her surname to distance herself from the scandal involving her husband, who was imprisoned for homosexual acts in 1895. It’s a juicy part that will hopefully give Clarke a lot to work with. She hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2019’s Last Christmas.

Gwendoline Christie joins Severance season 2 on Apple TV+

In other Game of Thrones veteran news, The A.V. Club reports that Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) has joined the cast of the Apple TV+ show Severance ahead of its second season. Severance stars Adam Scott as a man whose work brain is kept separate from his life brain, so when he’s home he has no memories of what he did at work and vice versa. It’s a fun high concept sci-fi show that got a lot of buzz during its first season. Best get in while the getting is good.

Other new cast members for season 2 include Bob Balaban, Merritt Wever, Alia Shawkat, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and John Noble. There’s no release date as of yet.
