The Witcher season 3 is not coming in November 2022
By WiC Staff
The Witcher is in the news a lot these days, ever since it was announced that star Henry Cavill will be leaving the show after its upcoming third season. Liam Hemsworth will replace him as Geralt of Rivia.
Why is Cavill leaving a show that he famously fought very hard to get on? For now, the evidence is inconclusive, but there’s still one more season to go with him in the lead role. Henry Cavill will return as the White Wolf one more time.
But when? While Netflix hasn’t announced an official release date, we can make some educated guesses.
When is The Witcher season 3 release date?
The first season of The Witcher premiered on Netflix in December of 2019. The second premiered in December of 2021. Will there be another two-year gap? Will the third premiere in December of 2023?
It seems likely. The Witcher is a complicated show with a lot of special effects — those monsters don’t animate themselves — so it takes a while to produce a new season. Plus, the cast and crew were laboring under COVID conditions, which slowed things down even further.
We don’t have a trailer or even a teaser yet, so season 3 is probably still a ways off. It’s definitely not coming out in November of 2022, but a late-in-the-year 2023 release sounds reasonable.
That said, there is a Witcher thing coming out soon: the prequel series Blood Origin will be hitting Netflix on December 25. Henry Cavill isn’t in that one either (so far as we know), but it might tide you over for a while longer.
