The season finale of Interview With The Vampire, “The Thing Lay Still,” aired this past Sunday. Yes, this first season only lasted seven episodes and it’s already over.

That said, what a journey we went on in a short amount of time! I’ll admit that I didn’t expect a show based on Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire to be a success; it already has a terrific 1994 movie adaptation and there’s been a lot of vampire fiction in the years since, so I didn’t know if the producers would have anything new to say. But they managed it! AMC’s Interview With The Vampire show took a familiar story and souped it up with a new cast, new ideas a new approach.

And now the waiting begins for Interview With The Vampire season 2. We don’t know exactly when new episodes will be along, but it definitely won’t be by the end of the year.

Interview With The Vampire season 2 is not coming out in November 2022

Happily, there is some more Anne Rice goodness coming along before then. AMC doesn’t just intend to adapt Interview With The Vampire, which is Anne Rice’s most famous book; it bought the rights to her entire catalog, which includes a ton of vampire stories and much more besides.

For instance, on January 8 of next year, AMC will premiere Mayfair Witches, an adaptation of another Anne Rice series. Although set in the same world as her Vampire Chronicles, this series will deal with…well, witches. I’d be suspicious if Interview With The Vampire hadn’t turned out so well, but now I’m intrigued:

AMC hopes that Interview and Mayfair Witches will form the foundation of a *sigh* new cinematic universe. The jury is out on that one, but at least Interview is off to a strong start as a series.
