Joseph Quinn was “petrified” to join Stranger Things as Eddie Munson

Netflix’s Stranger Things is one of the biggest shows on television. After four immensely popular seasons, the show will finally conclude with an upcoming fifth, so expect it to go out in the biggest, most epic way imaginable. There’s no doubt that the writers are cooking up something extra spicy for us!
It seems like every season the show gets bigger and darker. At the end of season 4, we’re left on a huge cliffhanger as the Upside Down dimension seeps into the quiet town of Hawkins, Indiana. And it’s about to get so much crazier:
Star Gaten Matarazzo, who plays fan-favorite Dustin Henderson, is excited to return to Hawkins one final time. “Onwards and upwards is, honestly, what I can only assume and hope for with this last one,” Matarazzo told Digital Spy, “because this last one, season 4, was just absolutely insane in so many ways, in what the characters got to do, and what the show actually was, and how long it was, and how big of a season it was compared to the previous three.”
Gaten Matarazzo excited to see how Stranger Things ends
By this point in its life, Stranger Things has an established core cast. That said, it’s also fond of introducing new characters every season. Season 2 brought us Max (Sadie Sink), season 3 saw Robin (Maya Hawke) join the team, and Joe Quinn (Eddie Munson) stole hearts in season 4. “I always like working with new actors on this, and I like seeing how a lot of new actors enjoy coming and working on the show,” Matarazzo said.
"I remember when we had Maya [Hawke] join, and we had Joe Quinn join – I remember, Joe was petrified, but he just delivered something so wonderful. And I know that if they have new characters that they will be what the show needs."
Matarazzo can’t wait to see what new characters will enter the fray in the final season. He’s confident that creators Matt and Ross Duffer will nail the casting for the umpteenth time. “They know how to make it, and they know how to do it right,” he said. “And so I’m excited to see what they do.”
Stranger Things season 5 doesn’t have a release date yet. At least we know that the premiere episode is titled “The Crawl”… whatever that means.
