The season finale of House of the Dragon aired a little under a month ago now, but Nielsen ratings only came in today. Nielsen has the most accurate ratings around, and quality takes time.

So how did the show do? Here are the top 10 most-watched streaming shows for the week of October 17-23:

  1. The Watcher (Netflix): 2,595 billion minutes watched
  2. The School for Good and Evil (Netflix): 1,058 billion minutes watched
  3. House of the Dragon (HBO Max): 1,013 billion minutes watched
  4. The Sinner (Netflix): 935 million minutes watched
  5. The Blacklist (Netflix): 807 million minutes
  6. NCIS (Netflix): 796 million minutes
  7. Gilmore Girls (Netflix): 792 million minutes
  8. Cocomelon (Netflix): 757 million minutes
  9. Love is Blind (Netflix): 683 million minutes
  10. Unsolved Mysteries (2020) (Netflix): 672 million minutes

House of the Dragon did quite well, clocking over a billion minutes watched. And October 23 is literally the day that the season finale, “The Black Queen,” dropped on HBO and HBO Max, so it’ll probably have a strong showing for the week after as well.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power doesn’t have much staying power

Of course, this chart is also a reminder that when it comes to streaming, it’s really Netflix’s world. They took literally every other spot on this chart, with Ryan Murphy’s thriller The Watcher coming in first and the star-studded fantasy movie The School for Good and Evil in second.

That said, keep in mind that this chart only measures minutes streamed. While viewers can stream House of the Dragon via HBO Max, it also airs on normal old TV, which isn’t counted here. Variety estimates that House of the Dragon gets about one-third of its views from people watching on cable, so the show is probably in the number two spot overall.

As for House of the Dragon’s big fantasy show rival The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, it didn’t make the top 10. It was watched for 570 million minutes during this period over on Amazon Prime Video. The Rings of Power wrapped up its first season on October 14, so a drop-off by this point was expected, but still, considering all the money Amazon poured into the thing, they were surely hoping the show would have more staying power.
