Last month, Warner Bros. Discovery announced that Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn would be managing the DC Extended Universe alongside Peter Safran. That means he’s in charge of DC movies and shows going forward. He holds the fate of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and many other characters in his hands.

And what does he have planned for them? Responding to a fan on Twitter over the weekend, Gunn said that he is planning to connect the DC Universe across film and TV projects:

And it goes further than that. One user asked if there were plans to incorporate video games into the DCEU continuity, Gunn responded with a simple “yes.”

Video games will be incorporated into the DCEU

We don’t have any details yet on how the video games will be connected to the movies and shows. There are only a handful of games with DC characters in development including Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and an expected Injustice sequel from Netherrealm Studios. The most recent DC game to hit the market was Gotham Knights, which has been met by a mediocre response by critics.

The Arkham Batman games were extremely popular in the 2010s. Those games starred celebrated voice actor Kevin Conroy as Batman; Convoy recently passed away at the age of 66.

DC movies and shows and have a been a mixed bag over the years, and the continuity can get confusing. Warner Bros. released two versions of the movie Justice League. The upcoming Flash movie will attempt to string together the disparate threads in the DCEU. The end goal is for DC to have a cinematic universe that can compete with Marvel. Are James Gunn and Peter Safran the guys to make this happen?
