Netflix brought it. Disney+ brought it. HBO Max and Hulu did alright. The streaming wars are raging and we’re all benefitting.
Each month, we read over the latest dispatches from the front lines of the Streaming Wars and assess how the likes of Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+ and the rest are doing. Who won the day, who was defeated, and who’s biding their time? We mark it all down on this living graph, which changes every month.
So let’s recap what happened on the battlefield in November:
Paramount+
The biggest premieres for Paramount+ this past month were the Sylvester Stallone mob drama Tulka King and Criminal Minds: Evolution. Meh. Points: +1
Netflix
From returning shows like The Crown and Dead to Me to newcomers like Wednesday and 1899, there was a huge press of new Netflix stuff in November. And don’t forget Young Royals. And Warrior Nun. And Love Is Blind. Just don’t mess with Netflix. Points: +4
Disney+
November brought the conclusion of Star Wars: Andor, the premiere of Willow, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Tim Allen’s return in The Santa Clauses, whatever The Mysterious Benedict Society is, and more. Disney is bringing it for the holidays. Points: +3
Hulu
The biggest Hulu originals this past month were Welcome to Chippendales and Fleishman is in Trouble. Add in a few more things plus a decent number of library titles, and you have a nice time on your hands. Points: +2
HBO Max
HBO Max stays above water this month with the season premiere of Titans, plus originals like A Christmas Story Christmas and Love, Lizzo. And it doesn’t hurt that it streams new episodes of The White Lotus from HBO proper. Points: +2
Amazon Prime Video
Amazon continues to release new episodes of The Peripheral, which has found an audience among sci-fi fans. It’s also got the award-winning documentary Good Night Oppy as well as the streaming premiere of My Policeman, which doesn’t look like a good movie but which does have a place in the ongoing Harry Styles-Olivia Wilde-Don’t Worry Darling drama. So that’s something. Points: + 2
Apple TV+
I want to give Apple TV+ more points, because it has good stuff. But there’s just so little of it. The biggest (and one of the only) new releases this month is the third season of video game industry comedy Mythic Quest. Points: + 1
Peacock
Peacock got the streaming premiere of Nope, as well as the original series Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, and that’s…about it. Points: + 1
